Shorter is easier to say out loud
The test that matters is whether someone can hear your domain once, over a phone or across a room, and type it correctly afterwards. That usually rules out hyphens, deliberate misspellings and numbers, all of which need explaining every single time you say them.
Take the obvious extension too

The registration itself is immediate, and the domain appears in your account straight away. DNS changes then propagate across the internet, which usually takes minutes but can take up to a few hours depending on the extension.
Do I have to host with you to register a domain here?
No. You control the nameservers, so a domain registered here can point at any host you like. Plenty of people keep the domain with us and the site elsewhere.
Is WHOIS privacy included?
Where the registry permits it, yes — your details are replaced in the public record. Some extensions, particularly certain country codes, require the registrant to be published and privacy cannot be offered on those. The order form tells you which is which.
What happens if I let a domain expire?
It stops resolving first, then enters a redemption period during which you can still recover it, usually at a higher fee set by the registry. After that it is released and anyone can register it.
We raise a renewal invoice ahead of the expiry date so this does not happen by accident.
Can I register a name for more than one year?
Yes, up to the maximum the registry allows for that extension, which is usually ten years. Choose the term on the order form before adding the domain to your cart.
Why is one extension so much more expensive than another?
The registry that runs each extension sets its own wholesale price, and they vary enormously. A premium or newly released extension can cost many times what a .com does, and that difference comes from the registry rather than from us.
